Mitr Phol Launches Cosmeceutical Business Add More Commercial Value to Sugarcane
The Mitr Phol Group, with cooperation of the Ministry of Science and technology (MOST), has recently pioneered sugarcane-based natural cosmetic products for Thai market under the brand name, “Chuen Jai by Mitr Phol (Delight by Mitr Phol, in Thai)”. The new products are expected to boost local economy of the country while strengthening professional stability of Thai sugarcane farm owners.
Mr. Buntoeng Vongkusolkit, Vice Chairman of the Board Director of Mitr Phol Group, revealed that the company had realized sugarcane’s potential as it can be more than a raw material of sugar for consumption and alternative energy. As a result, research has been constantly carried out to top more products made of sugarcane until skin care products of which natural sugar is the main ingredient.
“The present research to transform sugar into a skin care product implies effective and sustainable use of a raw material produced by Thai sugarcane farmers according to modern agriculture along with environmentally-friendly ways in terms of water and soil preservation, chemical substance reduction and harvesting sugarcane by hand-cutting. Doing so will help solve problems on air pollution that is currently affecting local communities and environment so effectively that it was certified by the Bonsucro standard, the world standard for sustainable sugarcane and sugar production,” said Mr. Buntoeng.
Ms. Patraporn Kanyamee, the specialist who worked with Mitr Phol Group on extending products in terms of adding value to agricultural raw materials and Thai herbs, added that she had adapted research knowledge to improve quality of sugar and sugarcane with the company for 3 years until the new skin care was introduced. The product, made by high-quality natural sugar, is enriched with lactic acid and AHA or natural fruit acid. Both are effective in gently exfoliating skin cells and revitalizing dry and damaged skin until it becomes moisturized and more radiant.
The products already launched to Thai market include Sugar Body Lotion, Sugar Body Scrub and Sugar Hand Cream. In the future, Mitr Phol Group is planning to develop and introduce more new products to serve consumers’ need.
The Chuen Jai by Mitr Phol are products of which the company takes pride in terms of promoting value of sugarcane while promoting sugar and sugarcane industries in Thailand. Doing so will make Thai farmers proud to realize that every sugarcane they planted is priceless and has good quality.
