Thai Sugar Organization Launches “OCSB Environmentally Friendly: Brave to Go Green for Sustainable Future”
The Office of the Cane and Sugar Board (OCSB) hosts the “OCSB Environmentally Friendly: Brave to Go Green for a Sustainable Future” initiative, distributing 30,000 biodegradable planting bags to promote sustainable reforestation efforts.
On November 6, 2024, the OCSB organized the “OCSB Environmentally Friendly: Brave to Go Green for a Sustainable Future” event at the Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University. As part of the initiative, the OCSB donated 5,000 biodegradable planting bags to support the university’s reforestation and seedling cultivation projects. This effort highlights the OCSB’s commitment to promoting environmentally friendly materials and reducing the use of conventional plastics that harm the environment.
On November 8, 2024, Mr. Pairat Chuambamrung, a representative of the OCSB, presided over the “OCSB Environmentally Friendly: Brave to Go Green for a Sustainable Future” event at the Mangrove Nature School in Bang Kaew Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Songkhram District, Samut Songkhram Province. During the event, the OCSB donated 25,000 biodegradable planting bags to support the school’s reforestation and seedling cultivation initiatives.
This initiative aims to raise awareness among consumers and business entrepreneurs about the importance of using biodegradable plastic products—environmentally friendly materials that naturally decompose. It is part of a program to enhance the capabilities of traditional plastic manufacturers and facilitate their transition to bioplastics. Led by the Plastics Institute, the program has developed five key bioplastic products in collaboration with industry stakeholders: food trays, pencil holders, medicine cups, plant pots, and planting bags. The project also focuses on formulating recipes and designing molds to support efficient bioplastic production. These efforts are coupled with practical applications to stimulate domestic demand for sustainable products.
The event also served as an opportunity for the OCSB to encourage businesses in the plastics industry to adapt and upgrade their production processes toward the use of bioplastics. This shift not only enhances business opportunities but also meets the growing demand from environmentally conscious consumers. The bioplastics used to produce the planting bags in this initiative were specifically designed for practical agricultural applications. This development provides businesses with viable options to create sustainable products, aligning with market trends and environmental priorities.
The “OCSB Environmentally Friendly: Brave to Go Green for a Sustainable Future” initiative marks a significant step in raising awareness and promoting the widespread use of bioplastics. This effort aims to foster environmental sustainability and nurture a nature-conscious society, benefiting institutions such as Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Agriculture and the Mangrove Nature School in Bang Kaew, Mueang Samut Songkhram District, Samut Songkhram Province. The initiative reflects the OCSB’s dedication to building a greener and more sustainable future for Thailand. It also provides opportunities for plastic industry businesses to develop eco-friendly products while encouraging consumers to prioritize bioplastics in their daily lives. This dual approach underscores the importance of collective action in driving environmental and societal change.
