Fireworks Media & OCSB Organize Sugarex Thailand 2019 to Save Cane Farmers, Reduce Burning Cane & Boost The Power of Competition Power
Fireworks Media (Thailand) Co. Ltd. has recently worked with the Office of Cane and Sugar Board (OCSB) to find solutions to help sugarcane farm owners from crisis about cane and sugar industries in Thailand, particularly dramatically low prices and problems on cane farm burning. The two organizations also gave support on labor shortage in cane farms and capacity-building for competition in ASEAN and world markets.
On 12 and 13 September 2019, the Sugarex Thailand 2019 took place at KICE International Conference and Product Exhibition Hall in Khon Kaen. Organized by public and private sectors as well as 3 major associations on cane and sugar industries and 21 sugar factories in northeastern Thailand, this event was presided over by the Deputy Secretary-General of the OCSB, the Ministry of Industry, the Khon Kaen Governor Mr. Panthong Sarakhuphan and the Chair of Kwang Si Juang Sugar Industry Association Mr. Nong Guang.
The General Manager of Fireworks Media (Thailand) Co. Ltd. said that it was the first time the event had been held in northeastern Thailand, the crucial area that contributes to agricultural development of the country. Also, the highest number of sugar factories are located here – 21 of them – as northeastern Thailand is the major agricultural part of the country where sugar cane, among others, is planted. Sugar cane farming here is assisted by a lot of public and private organizations, namely the OCSB – the Ministry of Industry, the Association of Cane and Sugar Academics of Thailand, the Department of Agricultural Extension of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Department of Agriculture, the Association of Sugar Factories of Thailand, the Commercial Association of Sugar Industries and the Association of Sugar and Biomass Manufacturers of Thailand.
According to Mr. Nong Guang, the chairman of Chinese sugar industries have experienced supportive exchange and cooperation with the World Sugar Organization and Thailand. At the event, many representatives from sugar refinery machine manufacturers participated in it, such as Guangxi Liugong Machinery, Guangxi Bost Machinery Co., Ltd, Guangxi Machinery Industry Academe, Guangxi Research Institute of Mechanical Industry, Guangdong Uwell Environment, Penglai Automation Factory, Guangxi Kede Valve, Hebei Mintz Machine, Changsha Wei’erbao New Material, Liuzhou YiPuKe Chemical Technology Development as well as Guangxi Xingfeng Technology Co., Ltd.
The OCSB Deputy Secretary General Mr. Sompol Nodsa-ngai said that the cane and sugar industries in Thailand are ranked the 2nd as the world sugar exporter and the 4th for sugar production. At present, sugar industries require modern technology and new equipment to mobilize export and production.
The Sugarex Thailand 2019 is a forum where academics, industrial entrepreneurs, investors and partners from Thailand and Asia, especially those working on production of machines and innovations for cane and sugar industries, had a chance to meet one another. Besides, a special talk, “Survival of Sugarcane Farmers from Thailand’s Low-Price Crises of Sugarcane Industries”, was held to provide knowledge and sustain the concerned business. It also emphasized on problem-solving about burning cane farms to cultivate the crop. There are many innovations of machines used in sugarcane farm on display apart from an international conference, Thailand Sugar Conference 2019, where leading people on sugar and ethanol of Southeast Asia and Thailand came to update about trends of sugar in the world market. Finally, a visit to Thai Udonthani Sugar Mill Co., Ltd. was organized for the participants.
The Sugarex Thailand 2019 is expected to enhance efficiency of cane and sugar businesses to reach the international level while promoting cooperation and concerns about environment among Thai cane farm owners.
