OCSB Monitors Drone and AI Deployment at Mitr Phol Sugar Mill for Anti-Cane Burning Measures
The Office of the Cane and Sugar Board (OCSB), led by Mr. Bainoi Suwanchatri, Secretary-General, has assigned a delegation to visit the Mitr Phol sugar mill in Dan Chang District, Suphan Buri Province. The visit aimed to monitor the implementation of drone and AI technologies under the project for surveillance and deterrence of illegal sugarcane burning.

The delegation included Mr. Samart Noiwan, Deputy Secretary-General of the OCSB; Mr. Thawatch Haman, Director of the Strategy and Planning Division; Ms. Sayarat Kongthanachotidecha, Director of the Cane and Sugar Industry Division; Mr. Jaruh Kongchan, Director of the Regional Cane and Sugar Industry Promotion Center 2; Mr. Jirawat Thoedphithakphong, Director of Center 3; Mr. Somwang Konkongkwai, Director of Center 4; Mr. Suwin Chaiwang, Director of the Information and Communication Technology Center; and other related officers.

This field visit focused on reviewing the deployment of drone and AI systems used for monitoring sugarcane fields. These technologies are part of an initiative to enhance the accuracy of crop attribute detection, improve the sorting process between fresh and burnt cane, and reduce production errors—ultimately helping maintain sugar quality. Additionally, they support yield and sweetness analysis (ton per rai and CCS), mitigate open-field burning, increase overall industry income, and promote eco-friendly practices in sugarcane production.
The project aligns with Thailand’s national strategy to reform the agricultural sector and tackle PM 2.5 pollution, contributing to sustainable and environmentally responsible sugarcane industry development.
