KTIS Partners with Singapore to Advance PFAS-Free Bagasse Packaging for Global Markets
KTIS Group has joined forces with two partners, Singapore-based Alterpacks and SJS, to advance PFAS-free packaging material technology and tap into the global sustainable packaging market. The collaboration aims to enhance the development of sugarcane bagasse packaging under the “Evolve Purity” brand, upgrade Thai agricultural products, add value to agricultural waste, and establish Thailand as a manufacturing hub for environmentally friendly packaging materials for export markets.

Mr. Prach Siriviriyakul, Director of Environment Pulp and Packaging Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Kaset Thai International Sugar Corporation Public Company Limited (KTIS Group), a leading integrated sugar and related industries group committed to sustainable development under the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy model, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Karen Cheah, Founder and CEO of Singapore-based Alterpacks Pte. Ltd. (Alterpacks), and Sakon Raksat, CEO of SJS Business Co., Ltd. The agreement will explore the introduction of Alterpacks’ PFAS-free packaging material technology into commercial-scale production in Thailand and support joint efforts to capture the global green packaging market.
The collaboration represents a regional technology transfer initiative within ASEAN, combining material innovation from Singapore through Alterpacks with EPAC’s manufacturing capabilities and sugarcane bagasse feedstock, which align with Thailand’s raw material availability and production potential. A Thai company will manage the project domestically, helping create added value from agricultural waste while laying the groundwork for Thailand to become a production base for environmentally friendly packaging materials serving export markets.

The signing ceremony was attended by a delegation from Enterprise Singapore, an agency under Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), led by Irene Teo, Regional Director. The delegation joined the ceremony in support of the cross-border private-sector partnership between Thailand and Singapore.
Alterpacks’ technology uses plant-based fibers to enhance the performance of molded-pulp packaging, providing heat resistance, structural strength, and oil resistance that conventional natural-fiber packaging can struggle to achieve, without relying on PFAS. The materials also retain their ability to biodegrade naturally. A key advantage is that the technology can be integrated into existing molded-pulp production lines without requiring investment in new machinery. All three parties aim to further develop material formulations that incorporate a higher proportion of Thai sugarcane bagasse.

EPAC’s “Evolve Purity” brand offers a wide range of packaging products made from 100% virgin sugarcane bagasse pulp, including plates, bowls, and food containers. The products meet internationally recognized food safety standards for food-contact materials, including FSSC 22000 Version 5.1, ISO 22000:2018, Good Hygiene Practices (GHPs), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). EPAC currently has a production capacity of up to 50 tonnes per day, equivalent to approximately 3 million pieces daily, supported by more than 50 standard-compliant machines.
EPAC has continued to expand its presence in both domestic and international markets. The company has participated in sustainable packaging trade shows in the United States and Indonesia, where its products attracted considerable interest from visitors, including business operators, suppliers, distributors, and investors from around the world across the food, beverage, and hospitality industries.
